NCA CONSTITUENCY BASED - COLLABORATIVE ACCREDITATION DRIVES.

The Authority in a bid to fortify its mandate to build and strengthen capacity among skilled construction workers and site supervisors embarked on collaborative accreditation drives across the country. The attendees, encompassing both skilled and unskilled workers are comprehensively sensitized on fundamental aspects of the construction industry including, safety protocols, health considerations, entrepreneurship, and industry best practices. Additionally, a segment on life skills that addresses work ethic and challenges encountered by construction workers while presenting viable solutions is also tackled.

The accreditation drives that have been successfully undertaken in Kajiado North, Manyatta, Kesses, Mbeere North, Kikuyu and Nyaribari Masaba constituencies have seen about 2,000 construction workers trained and sensitized. The recent collaborative exercises that took place in Laikipia County on 29th and 30th November 2023 and Kitui County on December 9th, 2023 were presided over by Laikipia Women Representative Hon. Jane Kagiri, OGW, and Kitui County Governor Hon. Dr. Julius Malombe respectively.

Whilst the Laikipia Constituency accreditation exercise drew the participation of over 535 individuals, the graduation of the Collaborative Empowerment Programme for Contractors and Site Supervisors in Kitui County saw a total participation of 4,000 from both groups after a weeklong exercise.

The participants were further sensitized to the advantages of accreditation, denoting the certification conferred by the NCA after thorough verification of credentials and professional capabilities. Accreditation stands as a pivotal mechanism for elevating craftsmanship standards within the industry. Accredited construction workers are poised to enjoy heightened opportunities for involvement in NC-CDF projects, alongside participation in Affordable housing initiatives unfolding across diverse counties.

The Authority remains committed to augmenting capacity and reinforcing the skills of construction workers through collaborations and partnerships with cognate and affiliated institutions. This commitment is underscored by the provision of free training sessions, strategically scheduled across various regions of the country in the financial year.
