ENG. GILBERT ARASA APPOINTED TO THE NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Eng. Gilbert Mongare Arasa, OCW, RCE, FIEK, was hosted by NCA Board of Directors Vice
Chairperson Adv. Mercy Okiro and Executive Director Eng. Maurice Akech, MBS, on January
25th for an introductory and familiarization meeting at the Authority’s headquarters in
Upper Hill, Nairobi. This follows his appointment to the NCA Board of Directors as the
Alternate Board Member representing the Principal Secretary, State Department for Roads.
Eng. Arasa brings to the Authority a wealth of knowledge and expertise with a career
spanning over 30 years as an engineer and in government. He is the current Chief Engineer
(Roads) at the State Department for Roads - Ministry of Roads and Transport. Previously, he
held the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Ag.
Director-General, Kenya Rural Roads Authority, and Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).
He has also served as a board member in various government institutions, among them
Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) and Kenya Institute of Highways and Building
Technology (KIHBIT).
Eng. Arasa was instrumental in the drafting and preparation of the Engineers Bill and
National Construction Authority Bill, both of which were enacted into law. The Authority is
confident in his leadership and skills and looks forward to his contribution to its mandate.
He takes over from Eng. Stephen Kogi MBS, who served on the NCA board for 4 consecutive
terms prior to his retirement. The Authority applauds and appreciates Eng. Kogi for his
commitment and stewardship during his tenure.
